It was a Friday night setting for the world traveling keyboardist Brian Simpson as he dropped into town to play with some of the local musicians. The packed house was treated to a dozen or so selections from Simpson’s three CD’s. He opened with the ever popular “It Could Happen” from his It’s All Good  release followed by the title track from South Beach. The band was stretching it out a bit when he strapped on his mobile keyboard and out on the floor for “Here With You” and another fan favorite, “Let’s Get Close” from Above the Clouds. It was fun seeing the band really getting into this one as each one was featured once again. He finished the set with two more from “Good” including “Saturday Cool” and the title track.

After a little intermission that included a meet and greet with the fans, the band cranked it up once again with “Juicy”. It was a great one to start the second half with as Simpson was tearing up the keys. “Can’t Tell you Why” from South Beach was an instant hit with the crowd as they all rocked in approval. The mobility of having the mobile keyboard helped as he was able to get into the audience on several occasions. I was glad to hear another one from Above The Clouds as he played “Whatcha Going to Do” before launching into some great blues. He finished the night with “Because of Love” from his first release; Closer Still. The fans wanted more as this night was coming to an end. Brian was packing up for an early morning plane ride for another destination. We’re just happy he was able to stop here in the Carolina’s for a Friday night club date with friends.
