The other night my dog had to throw up.  Anyone who has had a dog knows the characteristic sound of canis familirias “priming the pump.”  I jumped up and hurried him to the door to achieve digestive bliss in the yard.  I got there in time and opened the door and…

Let me stop there.  You are probably wondering what this has to do with music.  Wait for it.

To continue… the dog saw the open door, he heard me urgently suggesting that he go out.  Then he did what hundreds of generations of domestication have taught him is the natural and proper thing to do; he went OUT OF HIS WAY to go into the living room and throw up on the rug.

Alas!

The music industry has made poor decisions of late, relying on what has worked in the past.  The changing industry paradigm has left them behind.  New methods will be required to meet these new challenges.  Much opportunity is on the horizon for innovative thinkers to make a killing.

Or they can just squander their positions and future profits on the living room rug.
